BC Food Symposium

I love working with the folks in the food movement. Here are some pieces from province-wide Food Symposium, bringing over a hundred people involved in building British Columbia’s food network. I worked closely with the client and the lead facilitator before the Symposium to design a number of visual templates to help guide participants through the Symposium activities. We printed these templates on large pieces of paper and used them at tables during breakout sessions. Then as the groups reported back I also created large charts summarizing the themes and patterns that emerged. What I loved about this session was that the interaction between the audience and the visuals provided the conditions for the emergence of a central metaphor (that of a groundswell, pictured in the chart: grassroots micro initiatives bubbling into the policy space) that describes the state of this sector at the time of the meeting.
