I join a facilitation team as a graphic recorder, designing and producing innovative visual aids that assist with a meeting process. At the time of the meeting I create a real-time visual record of the proceedings, drawing out what is said, literally making visible the connections and disconnections present in the room.
Some examples of meetings at which I do graphic recording include:
I also provide custom illustration services, including whiteboard animations for my regular clients.

I'm a process expert first - visual artist second. The images I create are not only beautiful pictures – they are highly relevant and strategic, focusing attention on the key elements of content and the flow of session. I use my hand to draw - but I use my brain far more.
My images are clear and memorable. They travel well by social media. They enable participants to recall what happened at a meeting, and they enable people who were not at the meeting to discover what was going on.
I have a bold, versatile and adaptable style. No two images I make look the same. I draw on the visual elements already present in an organization or setting so that my images are an extension of the meeting experience.
I work well with clients and co-facilitators regardless of their approach to facilitation. My knowledge of multiple facilitation approaches and orientation to meetings allows me to be a helpful partner and respectful contributor.
I have worked extensively in a wide variety of settings including business, government, non-profits, academia, the arts, community and education since 2008. My familiarity with the culture and language of many different fields allows me to create visual aids appropriate to each setting.
I can tell you exactly what to expect in working with me so there are no surprises. For detailed information on my graphic recording process and logistical considerations please download my Graphic Recording FAQ (here). For video illustration services download Video Board FAQ (here).

It was a pleasure to work with Aftab from start to finish. She is clearly a deeply experienced facilitator who can quickly glean the aim of a gathering and the tone. We found that Aftab quickly became one of our team, able to track with out goals and to add valuable insights. Onsite, I felt confident to present her as one of our team due to her strong work as a graphic facilitator but also as someone who could integrate into the group well. I would recommend Aftab highly to anyone who asked and I hope our team will get to work with her again.Christine Ageton, Chief Program Officer, Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE)
It is awesome to work with you because you're not only an illustrator - you understand the business world. I felt that I was supported by a thinking partner. Thanks for bringing my vision into life. I was curious about visual facilitation and it far exceeded my expectations. Your work is so powerful and so useful in capturing what is essential to remember from a meeting. It was well worth it to have you on the facilitation team.Erin Kasungu, Manager, Community Foundations of Canada
I am IN LOVE with the visual mapping you did to facilitate and represent the work accomplished by the food symposium. They were fabulous to look at and mull over, and I can see them being incredibly powerful pieces if displayed in community, for people to pore over, and then talk about and vision through.

Congratulation. Our CEO was so impressed by your visual representation of the airport's economic impact that he has the Big Picture hung outside his office!
